While the address book is hardly one of the BlackBerry OS’ weakest links, it’s also pretty ordinary as far as we’re concerned. On a device that lends itself to communications more so than any other there’s plenty more that RIM could be doing in the space. As such, it’s understandable that many are excited for Xobni’s forthcoming BlackBerry offering , which we briefly checked out a couple of months ago.

Google has stated that it thinks the future of the mobile phone won’t be based on mobile App Stores, despite Apple’s version tipping 1.5 billion downloads . Vic Gundotra, Google Engineering VP said that the web ‘has won’ and in the future will be the platform to find and run all applications. He believes the problem is the sheer amount of platforms available for applications, such as those from BlackBerry , Apple and Nokia , mean it’s hard for a company to support all of them.

When we think of the IPhone we usually picture a beautifully crafted piece of technological hardware. It definitely could be viewed as more than a phone. With its shiny surfaces and excellent looking screen, the IPhone is the state of the art information and communication device that defines the new mobile gene ration. A generation that isnt shy about keeping their technology “fully loaded” with the best applications. But keeping your IPhone loaded with all the newest and best software downloads and applications isnt cheap.

I don’t know about you, but I’m attached to my Blackberry device. OK, I’ll fess up; I have two of them.
