A whopping 18.7 billion mobile applications will be downloaded globally by 2014. Of this figure, 3.3 billion will be paid-for tools; the rest will be free. Global consulting firm Ovum said this in its Mobile Application Downloads Forecast: 2009-14, released earlier this month.
