I’ve always been a big Windows Media Player (WMP) fan. I never bothered with any of the alternatives as WMP has always had most/all the features I’ve needed, and I despise iTunes (for way too many reasons to go into here!). When I first got the beta of Windows 7 back in Feb/March (?), one of the first things I did was check out WMP 12. I was very pleased with what I found…it’s quicker and smoother and has got numerous great new features such as “Play To” for streaming to other devices, the ability to be played remotely to another Windows 7 machine, the ability to preview songs and more.

The next-generation Windows Mobile 7 operating system from Microsoft is shaping up into a very attractive mobile platform. The Redmond-based software giant is already known to plan on enhancing it with great functionality, including over-the-air software updates, better integration with various services, greater user friendliness, support for Zune and Xbox Live, or Silverlight integration, and now we learn that even more goodies might be on their way to the platform, including the SeaDragon zoom tech some of you might be already aware of.

Microsoft has revealed the results of its Entertainment and Devices Division, which oversees the strategy for the Xbox 360 home gaming console, showing that sales have remained pretty much unchanged from one year ago, but that the operating income has gone up by a whopping 96%, reaching 312 million dollars. The results are for the fiscal quarter that ended on September 30 and, in addition to the Xbox 360, the division also handles operations for the Zune media player, a direct competitor of the iPod, PC games published by Microsoft, online titles and other entertainment products.
