Zune HD HDTV interface can make it a fantastic Media Center. With all the frenzy about the upcoming launch of Zune HD , Gizmodo has dugg up a neat little less known usage of Zune HD, as a Media Center. In a press release today AT&T has announced that the iPhone 3G/3GS will finally be getting Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) support. Many iPhone users have been waiting impatiently for this, and AT&T has finally announced a release date. AT&T says that MMS will be coming to the iPhone 3G/3GS on September 25 through a free software update. That means the iPhone 3.1 update will not support MMS, because it’s rumored to launch on September 9, the same day the iPod Touch 3rd generation is announced by Apple.

September 15 is the day when the Zune HD will be finally available but it also happen to be the day when Microsoft will have a Zune software update for everyone else. The new software, possibly the Zune 4.0, will bring you plenty of new features but you’ll have to wait two more weeks to get it. In the mean time it will be interesting to see how the new iPods coming on September 9 will affect Zune HD orders in the following months.

This week, a few days ahead of the public release of the new Zune HD , Microsoft announced they were no longer supplying or selling the previous generation of Zune devices. This is a good decision, when you consider the forward business potential of the now 3 year old Zune. Given that all that is behind you is a sunk cost, the sales prospect of the Zune is very small (considering it never made it big in the first place), and from a design and brand value perspective the bulky outdated device would stain and diminish the fresh and splashy retail display opportunity that the Zune HD will seek.

    WIth the launch of a new Zune comes the update to the already excellent Zune Player software.  Microsoft is claiming some exciting new features as to which the details have been left out.  We expect an update from Apple with a new iTunes this coming week, but we would love to see more features to the great player they have now.  Zune Player is on par with iTunes and that is a hard feat to manage.  The Zune software is very different, but equal in some areas and better in others as far as music software goes.

The Zune HD is coming, on Setember 15, with a full refresh of the Zune line up , and a brand new software along for the ride. Or, that’s at least what we’re being told via the Zune newsletter, recently sent out. From what we can tell, the launch of the Zune HD will herald the release of the new software, specifically designed for the new hardware being released. About a week ago, we saw a pamphlet telling us about the new features coming to the Zune Software, most notably the addition of HD movies.

Microsoft announced that when it releases the Zune HD on Sept. 15, all previous Zune models will be discontinued. Microsoft said it will continue selling the non-HD models until supplies run out. After that, users will only be able to buy the two Zune HDs: the 16 GB Black and 32 GB Platinum models.

Toshiba’s got a new take on mobile internet devices, and it is one that sorta kinda makes sense. Its 7-inch JournE Touch is based on Windows CE, has an ARM processor and isn’t meant to leave the living room. Called the “Ultimate Home Media Tablet” Toshiba’s Wi-Fi tablet has built its own icon packed user interface on top of Windows CE. It will allow you sit back on the couch and run a full Web browser and according to this release you can access Picasa, YouTube, Flickr and your instant messaging clients from the Wi-Fi device.

Sony is really trying to create buzz around its latest Sony NWZ S540 so much so that the tech giant has published a video review (of sorts) on youtube.
