BuyTV has posted several promotional videos of the new Zune HD which goes on sale next Tuesday, September 15. In one of the videos, named “portable perfection”, it’s clear that the Zune HD will have 3D gaming capabilities and it appears mid-way through the commercial that a car game (most likely Burnout) is running on the Zune HD. There’s more videos included that show overviews of the car dock, HD radio, Xbox integration, Zune HD video and AV dock.

Check em’ out while you can. I suspect they will be gone soon… There are 8 short videos showing off the features of the Zune HD as well as demos of some of the add on accessories. The video quality is bad, but I am thinking they are legit. I guy Buy.com is the leaker this time, not Frys this time. Thanks for the tip Slash. Update : Just checked Engadget and they had something up already via ZuneUnited . They are the same videos it seems, just bigger with text accompanying them.

Netbooks, by definition, have been around for years now, and while the vast majority have left the 7- to 9-inch realm, hardly any have bothered to show up with a respectable 720p panel. Furthermore, hardly any have deviated from the strictly held hardware line , which generally consists of an Intel Atom N270 / N280 processor, GMA950 graphics, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Windows XP and far too few USB socketsSee the rest here: How would you change the netbook as we know it?

After Apples fun-but-not-earthshattering debut of a video-shooting iPod Nano earlier this week, Steve Jobs gave New York Times reporter David Pogue an interview. Asked if Apple was ready to debut an e-reader like Amazons Kindle but much, much prettier, of course Jobs said he didnt think e-readers made sense: Im sure there will always be dedicated devices, and they may have a few advantages in doing just one thing, he said. But I think the general-purpose devices will win the day.

Remembering 9/11: Where were you? At a garage dropping off my car for work. Wife called, said “turn on the TV”. My ride said “we’re at war” # RT @ Ihnatko Fedex delivered two boxes this morning: Apple’s new iPods, and Microsoft’s new Zune HD. Now they’re just _glaring_ at each other # @ debsmouse Mine was like 6K for A/C and heater (Lennox sear15 rating) but my electric bills went down and the system runs like a DREAM! in reply to debsmouse # @ FatElvis04 No, that’s your upper lip.

I just got an email from Microsoft this afternoon, informing me that they will be performing some system maintenance on all Zune services. From 11:00 PM Pacific (2:00 AM EST) on September 14 until “the early hours” of September 15, Zune.net, Zune forums, and Zune marketplace will all be unavailable. We can only speculate as to what might be happening during that period of time. though considering the Zune HD is set to be released immediately following that down time on September 15, I am pretty sure you are thinking what I am thinking.

Archos 5 250GB Review: really hesitated to purchase this, based on the wide range of negative and positive reviews from other owners. My Zune 120 gb media player gave me all kinds of problems, so I was looking for a device with lots of storage space for music, video and photos. I’ve been using the Archos 5 for about a week now, and it does everything I need it to. The picture quality on the 5 inch screen is excellent, and it works great when used with the optional dvr station.

While Apple may have crammed everything but the kitchen sink into their new iPod Nano, one thing it doesn’t have is a haptic touchscreen. But this portable media player from Latte has one, and now it can be had for less than a single Benjamin. Of course, the 16GB Latte Espresso PMP can play music and video files, but it’s also got a touchscreen with tactile feedback, so you can actually feel a pronounced “click” when you interact with buttons and controls on the screen.

The first Windows 7 commercial is making its way around the internet. The video is embedded above. It still features a little kid and she talks about happy words. Not as memorable as the Apple Ads but I guess they are showing it’s so easy a kid can do it. While I use Mac most of the time I am extremely happy with Windows 7 in my testing.

Although we are yet to receive either an official European or North American product release announcement, Sony’s latest player has been spotted at a trade show (the Sony Dealer Convention) in Japan. Carrying on the tradition of Sony’s S-Series is the Sony NWZ S740 . Other than sporting a similar look to Sony’s S540 , nothing too concrete about the player’s specs has been made available. Stating the obvious, we know that the S740 is available in a choice of yellow, pink, and black.

Duh-nuh, duh-nuh, duh-nuh…it’s coming, IT’S COMING! We may as well be playing the “Jaws” theme song over the P.A. system here at the CNET offices (if we had one, that is), as September’s product launch craziness has many a CNET editor looking over his or her shoulder wondering when the next bomb is going to drop. I’ll tell you when: September 15. Well, at least that’s one we can talk about. In just four days, the Zune HD will be officially released.
