Apart from the Zune HD , the impressive Nvidia Tegra chip is confirmed to be headed for use on smartphones with the earliest release date scheduled for Q4 of 2009. True to this report, Samsung has just disclosed that they are indeed working on a Tegra-based phone albeit keeping mum on its other specs and features. Likewise, since there’s very limited available info at the moment, we’re not exactly sure if they’ll actually be the first to release a Tegra-powered smartphone in the market this year, but as far as the record books are concerned, they are the first to officially admit it which is good enough in our books.

Imagine taking your smart phone and plugging it into your 42-inch HD TV at home and watching your latest movies in high def all from your phone’s microSD card. And then cruising on the road and playing console-quality games with killer graphics and browsing the Web without any limitations.

Samsung has confirmed that they are going to develop a smartphone using the Nvidia Tegra Chip, the same and powerful HD CPU that the Zune HD will pack later this year. There isn’t much information as of yet about Samsung’s new device but what we can guess is that it will have an AMOLED touchscreen as well as numerous widgets and apps running on TouchWiz (Samsung’s Portable User Interface). Whether or not Samsung goes with Windows Mobile or Android is still undetermined at this point.  We will keep you posted on the latest news as it becomes available.

Nvidia seems to be promoting it’s new netbook running the company’s Tegra ARM chipset and, of all things, Windows CE. It looks very ill-logical — baseless, since Tegra is really meant for smartphones, and nobody seems too thrilled with it.
