Frank Shaw, currently the president of Microsoft’s public-relations firm Waggener Edstrom, is leaving the agency to become Microsoft’s corporate vice president for Corporate Communications. Shaw will report to Mich Mathews, senior vice president for Microsoft’s Central Marketing Group. Shaw expects to begin his new role on August 24 and will have a lot on his hands very soon with the upcoming releases of Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, the Zune HD, and Windows Mobile 6.5 devices.

This week on Zune Insider Jessica and Matt had Dave McLauchlan on as a guest. Dave does business development for Zune- basically working out deals with accessory, connectivity, and other partners for not just the device but the entire Zune ecosystem. One of the more interesting stories to me is that he works with car companies and aftermarket head unit manufactures to bring Zune connectivity where the iPod has historically been the only compatible player in the automotive space.

Remember that Zii chip that had all that stem cell marketing stuff going on? When I heard that Creative were going to shove it into an egg I was mightily confused…. Until I discovered that the Creative Zii EGG is actually a PMP that will be packing Android. Not only that but it’s set to taunt the Touch as it both records and plays HD video ! The 3.5-inch Creative Zii EGG has more than a passing resemblance with the iPod touch but runs Creative’s Plaszma platform, as well as Android, and some other bits ‘n’ bobs.

We saw the Zii Egg pass though the FCC a few weeks ago and today Creative has unveiled the Zii Egg development platform. While the Zii EGG is a finished product it is not quite ready for the consumer market. Creative is banking on developers to build applications and entire user experiences out of the Zii EGG hardware though Android and their own Linux based OS dubbed Plaszma. One of the big differences being that the Plaszma OS takes advantage of the Zii chips cell architecture.

  Here it is fellas. The Zii EGG has been given the official treatment by Creative. The PMP is powered by ZiiLABS ZMS-05 SoC and really packs a punch to give iPod Touch and Zune HD a tough time. Before going through the full spec list some notable features it boasts are its 3.5-inch capacitive multi-touch display, dual cameras including an HD one, 1080p output to HDTV via HD cable, GPS, Wi-Fi and 32GB internal memory which can expand to 64GB with a SDHC card.

A Samsung representative confirmed that Samsung is working on a phone equipped with NVIDIA’s Tegra Processor. Last month, NVIDIA said that a phone equipped with the Tegra processor would be released on AT&T ir T-Mobile costing around 199$. So now it’s almost sure that the phone will be a Samsung.
